Lee has a busy personal injury practice, with particular emphasis on serious head injury, spinal injury and amputation cases. His work includes cases that have arisen from serious industrial accidents, road traffic accidents and industrial diseases. He has a particular interest in the interpretation of workplace regulations.
Lee regularly appears in the High Court and he is instructed by the catastrophic injury teams of leading insurers, including Royal Bank of Scotland, NIG, NFU Mutual, Zurich, Churchill and Direct Line. He is also instructed by leading Claimant firms.
He is a contributor to a number of the leading personal injury textbooks, including Kemp & Kemp and the Personal Injury Handbook. He has co-written editions of Munkman on Employers’ Liability and he is a member of the Health and Safety Executive’s panel of counsel.
He has been identified as a 'Leading Personal Injury Junior' in the 'Chambers and Partners Guide' and was described by solicitors as being ".... superb on both the Claimants' and Defendants' side" and "an enthusiastic and hard working barrister with a special interest in workplace claims".
Lee also regularly advises international airlines in respect of accident claims that have arisen from the carriage of passengers. He has recently advised an African national airline (regarding an appeal to the Privy Council) as well as airlines that operate flights from the United Kingdom.
Recent and representative work:
Acting for a major insurer in respect of a high value claim for post-traumatic stress disorder brought by a former bomb disposal expert in the British Army.
Acting for a major insurer in respect of an accident claim that was brought by a city banker who had a specialism in Japanese banks. The claim included projections of the Claimant's promotion prospects and earning capacity had the accident not occurred.
Appearances in the High Court, on average, every 2-3 weeks in respect of catastrophic injury cases and other serious accident claims.
Regularly instructed by major train operating companies, bus companies and other transport related companies.
High value stress at work claim against the Home Office.
High value claim against the Ministry of Defence in respect of the alleged development of an asbestos-related condition.
Instructed by a south-eastern Fire Authority in a claim arising from serious injuries to a fire fighter when the roof of a burning building collapsed.
