Changez’s practice covers, but is not limited to: unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE and restrictive covenants. He has experience of cases which are complicated by an underlying commercial challenge such as a corporate insolvency, a business takeover or a boardroom/ partnership dispute.

In some rare cases there is an international element: for example, misconduct occurring during an overseas secondment or where line management is split across more than one office. In such cases Changez’s academic background (which includes a French law degree) has given him the necessary confidence to tackle problems emanating from foreign law.

Changez is an experienced tribunal advocate and appears in the full range of hearings including longer trials lasting a week or more. He has also represented parties on appeal, both in the EAT and the Court of Appeal as sole counsel.

His successes for claimants have included six-figure awards and also a rare reinstatement. For respondents he has had large claims dismissed and, more than once, obtained orders for costs.

Changez also advises clients who prefer to resolve disputes without litigation.

One solicitor commented: “Changez is a capable advocate who inspired confidence in my client and handled some difficult issues very well. I would not hesitate to recommend him for employment tribunal work.”
