Public Access
Public Access

Members of the public, professional organisations, companies and businesses can instruct members of Farrar's Building directly without the need for a solicitor. Public access to barristers is a cost effective and direct means by which the expertise of the members of Farrar's Building can be accessed.

Not every case is suitable for public access as barristers cannot conduct litigation. However, under the Public Access rules members of Farrar's Building can provide advice (in writing and in conference), draft court documents, settle applications, draft letters and undertake advocacy such as appearing in court, disciplinary hearings and tribunals. If your case is not suitable for public access we will tell you either at the initial review of your case or during the case if it becomes evident that a solicitor should be instructed.

Public access is suitable for both contentions and non-contentions matters. The areas of work undertaken by way of public access cover the areas of expertise identified under each member of chamber's profile.

For more information on public access, its advantages and what it means see the Bar Council's:-

If you are interested in instructing counsel at Farrar's Building please contact the clerks to discuss your requirements.
