A solicitor between 1981 and 2006 Grant then transferred to the bar. His previous experience gives him an insight into the relationship between the two branches of the profession.
In a total of over 45 years’ experience in the legal professions Grant has been involved in most areas of civil litigation.
Most recently Grant has concentrated on personal injury and motor claims with particular experience in motor claims involving credit hire and in which he is happy to receive instructions on behalf of either claimant or defendant.
Grant is also an accredited mediator. He has successfully mediated disputes in a range of areas and has been a mediator trainer and assessor.
Personal Injury
Grant has represented parties in cases on the fast track, intermediate track and multi-track. He has represented both claimants and defendants on issues of liability and causation of injury and has both succeeded in obtaining and defending respectively findings of fundamental dishonesty.
Credit Hire
Grant regularly represents claimants and defendants in credit hire claims at all levels of track. He is familiar with the relevant legal principles and authorities on the various issues of measure of loss, enforceability, need, duration of hire, impecuniosity and basic hire rate evidence.
Alternative Dispute Resolution
Grant has successfully mediated disputes in a wide range of fields including Construction, Commercial Contracts, Corporate Sale, Landlord and Tenant, Employment, Personal Injury, Property and Boundary Disputes, Probate, Professional Negligence, Malicious Prosecution and Wrongful Arrest, Franchise, Insurance, Travel and Housing. He has CEDR specialist training in Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury.
Grant also trains mediators and has assisted CEDR’s training faculty. He has been a member of coaching faculty on the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators mediator training course, to which he contributed a paper on law for mediators, and an assessor for the RICS/MATA mediator training course.
