Farrar’s Building is an award-winning set with a long and distinguished history at the heart of Inner Temple.

Located adjacent to Temple Church, Chambers is a short walk from the Royal Courts of Justice and Temple Underground Station. We were proudly one of the first sets in London to offer full wheelchair accessibility.

A barristers’ chambers has occupied the present site for centuries. Our name derives from Thomas Farrar, Treasurer of Inner Temple in 1679. Among its notable former residents is James Boswell, who took rooms in Farrar’s Building 1763. During his time here, he first met Samuel Johnson, later hosting him to dinner in Chambers, an encounter that became part of literary history.

Today, Farrar’s Building comprises 64 tenants, including 9 KCs and a strong complement of junior barristers. While our practice is firmly rooted in England and Wales, we have developed an increasing international outlook, with members appearing in courts and tribunals both domestically and overseas. We also maintain longstanding professional links with the Welsh market.

Our members have a proud tradition of judicial appointment, with former members appointed at every level of the judiciary, including the House of Lords, Court of Appeal, High Court and Circuit Bench. Current members sit as Recorders, DDJs, Assistant Coroners and tribunal chairs, reflecting the depth of experience within Chambers.

Chambers offer modern, fully equipped facilities for conferences, mediations and joint settlement meetings, with excellent video conferencing facilities.
