Our International & Travel Law team specialises in complex cross-border disputes across Chambers’ core areas, including personal injury, clinical negligence, employment, insurance, professional negligence and product liability.

Our barristers, several of whom are fluent in multiple languages, act in matters ranging from Fast Track trials in the County Court to catastrophic injury and high value commercial disputes heard in the High Court and appellate courts. We are also experienced in offshore work, particularly in claims in the British Virgin Islands, where several members are called to the local Bar.

Recognised by instructing solicitors for offering the ‘full spectrum of expertise’, our members are widely regarded for their handling of high-value and sensitive claims, particularly those involving serious injury or fatal accidents abroad. Our work frequently involves complex issues of cross-border liability, including sporting accidents, food-borne illnesses, road traffic accidents overseas, and incidents on board aircraft and ships governed by the Montreal and Athens Conventions.

In additional to personal injury work, we are regularly instructed in jurisdictional and contractual disputes, including those under the Package Travel Regulations, and in claims between insurers and holiday providers. We also advise on clinical negligence claims involving reconstructive and cosmetic treatment overseas, foreign employers’ liability, public international law, and product liability arising in an international context.

Members have extensive experience in large scale group litigation, acting for both claimants and defendants, frequently advising on issues of jurisdiction and choice of law, and the strategic conduct of cross border proceedings.
