Michael joined Farrar’s Building following the successful completion of his pupillage and accepts instructions across all of Chambers’ core practice areas, with a particular emphasis on insurance, property damage and personal injury.

He appears in court on an almost daily basis and accepts instructions from both claimants and defendants in trials, interim applications and costs hearings. He also maintains a busy paperwork practice and is available to advise on quantum, liability and litigation strategy, as well as to draft pleadings, schedules and counter-schedules.

Before commencing pupillage, Michael worked in a leading clinical negligence department, assisting on complex spinal injury and cauda equina cases from initial client enquiry through to trial. He also gained significant appellate and international experience as a research assistant, working on matters before the High Court, Court of Appeal, Privy Council and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

Insurance

Michael is developing a practice across the full breadth of insurance law. He regularly appears for insurers at final hearings and accepts instructions to draft pleadings and advise on coverage, liability and litigation strategy.

He frequently acts in motor insurance claims for both claimants and defendants and is familiar with all core aspects of credit hire litigation.

Property Damage

Michael is building a practice with a strong focus on property damage. He accepts instructions for both claimants and defendants and has experience of issues involving nuisance, escapes of water and damage to property foundations. He is available to advise at all stages of litigation or to appear at trial.

Clinical Negligence

Michael accepts instructions across the full spectrum of clinical negligence matters including drafting pleadings, schedules and counter-schedules. Before joining Chambers, he worked in a leading clinical negligence department, assisting on complex spinal injury and cauda equina cases from initial client enquiry through to trial.

He is also willing to accept instructions in inquests, including on a CFA basis, particularly where issues of clinical decision-making arise. During pupillage, he assisted in a multi-week Article 2 inquest concerning the suicide of a prisoner receiving mental health treatment.

Personal Injury

Personal injury is a core component of Michael’s practice. He acts for both claimants and defendants and is happy to advise on liability, quantum and tactics, as well as to draft pleadings, schedules and counter-schedules in all types of personal injury claims.

He also has experience acting in matters involving injuries to children and is available for Infant Approval Hearings or written advice on quantum.

 

Health, Safety & Environmental

Michael is keen to develop a practice across all areas of environmental law, with particular interest in cases relating to utilities infrastructure and property damage. He has experience of issues involving nuisance and escapes of water, and has conducted substantial research on CfDs and Capacity Market issues for a forthcoming publication.

 

Professional Discipline & Regulation

Michael is developing a practice in professional discipline and regulatory matters and is happy to accept instructions across this area. As a pupil, he gained exposure to matters before the SRA and ACCA, and is also happy to accept instructions in matters involving healthcare regulators.

International & Travel

Michael is happy to accept instructions in travel-related and international matters and is keen to expand his practice in this area. Prior to pupillage, he gained experience assisting on cases before the Privy Council and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, and he welcomes instructions involving an international dimension.

Sport

Michael is developing a practice in sports law. As a pupil, he gained exposure to matters before the FA and RFU and welcomes instructions involving sporting bodies, disciplinary issues and regulatory proceedings.

He accepts instructions in disputes arising from contractual, competition and personal injury matters, and has experience of claims involving injuries to spectators at sporting events.

Professional Negligence

Michael is happy to accept instructions in professional negligence claims, particularly those arising from property damage or construction matters.

Commercial

Michael is developing a broad commercial practice and welcomes instructions across the full range of commercial disputes.

Probate, Trusts & Court of Protection

Michael is developing a broad Court of Protection and private client practice and welcomes instructions across the full range of trusts and probate disputes.
