Employment

Employment is a significant area of practice for Chambers. Our employment barristers are recognised in the field for their commercially-sensitive, yet personable, approach. We act at all stages of employment disputes; advising and assisting with internal grievances or disciplinary proceedings, drafting pleadings and giving advice on prospects, as well as providing advocacy before Employment Tribunals, the EAT and the Higher Courts. Members also have a wealth of experience in successfully making use of alternative dispute resolution, including in judicial and private mediations.

Our clients range from individual employees, to directors, trade unions and from SMEs to local authorities as well as national/ international corporates. Many of our members are licensed to act on a public access basis.

We are instructed in all aspects of employment law, and our areas of expertise include:

  • Discrimination of all forms
  • Employee/Worker status and the “gig economy”
  • Equal pay disputes
  • Health & Safety at work
  • Injunctive relief
  • Family matters (including parental rights)
  • Redundancy
  • Restraint of trade and confidential information
  • Trade union law and industrial relations
  • Transfer of undertakings
  • Unfair and wrongful dismissal
  • Wage disputes
  • Whistleblowing
  • Working Time disputes

In addition, due to members of our Employment Law group practising in other areas of law within chambers, we are able to offer invaluable expertise in the related areas of personal injury, health and safety, regulatory law and commercial law, many of which often arise in employment disputes.
