Kamran is an experienced advocate, appearing in court and tribunals daily. He has a particular focus on personal injury litigation and regulatory and disciplinary proceedings.

Kamran has a thriving personal injury practice. He represents and advises clients on all types of personal injury matters of Fast Track value and above. Kamran also has a busy paperwork practice and is regularly instructed to draft pleadings and provide advice on issues pertaining to liability, quantum, tactics and procedure. Kamran prides himself on his quick turnaround time for written work.

Kamran has an established regulatory and disciplinary practice. He represents many regulators in the healthcare and financial sectors, who value his robust witness handling and persuasive advocacy. He is regularly instructed on multi-day substantive fitness to practice hearings , where complex issues of misconduct and dishonesty arise. Recent work includes success before an Appeal Committee of a financial regulator in a case of wider investigatory significance for the regulator.

Personal Injury

Kamran has a strong personal injury practice. He acts for claimants and defendants in RTA, public liability and employers’ liability cases, and is regularly instructed in those cases where there is a central focus on fundamental dishonesty, LVI and/or associated elements of fraud.

Kamran is well-versed with credit hire matters including issues of need, enforceability, period, impecuniosity, intervention and rate. Kamran is able to deal with shortcomings in evidence and the challenges arising from that. He is also happy to advise on all issues relating to credit hire.

Kamran is happy to draft pleadings and schedules and provide advice in writing or in conference, all within a quick turnaround time.

Civil Fraud

Kamran has considerable experience in claims involving fraud. Acting frequently for both Claimants and Defendants, Kamran has a strong understanding of all issues pertaining to fundamental dishonesty, exaggerated claims, LVI, section 57, QOCS and costs implications.

Professional Discipline & Regulation

Kamran represents many regulators in the healthcare and financial sectors, including the NMC, HCPC, GOC and ACCA. Kamran is adept at dealing with issues pertaining to complex misconduct and/or dishonesty offences. Recent work includes success before an Appeal Committee of the ACCA in a case of wider investigatory significance for the regulator.

Sport

Stemming from his interests in sports, this is an area of law that Kamran welcomes instructions in and is keen to develop this strand of his practice.

International & Travel

Kamran is happy to accept instructions in all forms of travel claims such as travel delay, holiday sickness, and associated matters. Kamran welcomes instructions to advise and/or appear in court at all stages of litigation.

'Acting for the ACCA, appeal unanimously allowed by the Appeal Committee of the ACCA on the grounds of procedural irregularities by the original Disciplinary Committee in allowing the member to give evidence under the guise of submissions, despite the member electing immunity from cross-examination. The consequence of this resulted in the member avoiding a finding of misconduct. On appeal, it was held that this gave rise to unfairness, it did not allow the ACCA to conduct its case properly and that there was an error in the application of facts to the law. The matter was listed for a retrial.'

ACCA v YS

'Acting for the NMC, successfully applied to Fitness to Practise Panel to recuse itself on grounds of bias following the facts stage of a misconduct hearing as a result of discovering that the Panel Chair had been reported for discussing case details externally, and without the knowledge of fellow panellists. The Panel accepted that the deliberate piercing of the veil of privacy was procedurally irregular, that the external discussions were disadvantageous to the NMC case and due to externally obtained information potentially being introduced into deliberations, there was a risk of apparent bias.'

NMC v AS

'Acting for the train operator, successfully defended a claim by the Claimant arising out of a serious assault during the course of his employment. The Claimant sustained serious physical and psychiatric injuries. Allegations pertaining to lack of CCTV footage being monitored, absence of security staff, lack of recent training and failure in the quality of risk assessments were noted, but the claim was ultimately defended on the basis of causation not being made out.'

Kamran enjoys being instructed (bossed around) by his wife, two little girls and West Highland Terrier, Alfie. Kamran is a big foodie who loves to travel the world to experience new cultures and cuisines.

Kamran also enjoys nearly every sport that exists. Unfortunately, he is much better at watching than playing. He takes great pride in following the ups and downs of Liverpool FC.
