Hena Patel

Hena Patel

  • Called in 2019

Hena joined Farrar’s Building in 2022 and is developing a practice in all of Chambers’ core areas of work. She is regularly instructed in a range of court matters, including fast track and small claims trials, interim applications, and Stage 3 hearings.

During pupillage, Hena gained broad experience in clinical negligence, professional negligence, insurance, and inquest work. Prior to that, she was a paralegal at a City law firm specialising in high-value and complex litigation. As part of the Personal Injury team, Hena worked on claims for clients who had suffered traumatic brain injuries and leg injuries resulting in amputation. Consequently, she has experience of drafting particulars of claim, calculating general damages, and providing instructions to experts. She also developed an understanding of the impact that litigation has on vulnerable clients, and how best to communicate complex medico-legal matters sensitively and effectively.

Hena also has experience as an advocate for LPC Law and was regularly instructed on behalf of claimants and defendants on a range of court matters, including applications for summary judgment and strike out, possession claims and infant approval hearings. During her studies, Hena volunteered at the Centre for Criminal Appeals and developed her advocacy skills by participating in mooting and debating competitions. She was awarded the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship as a result of winning a UK-wide debating competition.

Regulatory & Disciplinary

Hena is interested in all matters relating to regulatory and disciplinary law. She has gained training through the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and will soon be acting for the regulator in upcoming hearings. Hena is keen to further develop her practice in this area.

Public Inquiries

Hena is a member of the Attorney-General’s ‘Junior-Junior’ scheme and is currently instructed on the COVID-19 Inquiry on behalf of HMRC.

Clinical Negligence

Hena is keen to develop her practice in this area. Hena gained a broad exposure to clinical negligence work during her pupillage where she worked on advices, pleadings and observed a contested liability trial.

Hena welcomes instructions on clinical negligence matters, and is developing her practice in this area.

Personal Injury

Hena’s personal injury practice presently focuses on road traffic claims. She is frequently instructed in small claims and fast track trials on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants. She is happy to accept instructions for interim and case management hearings, as well as Stage 3 disposals.

She is a member of the Personal Injury Bar Association.

Public Law

Hena has an interest in Public Law and is keen to develop her practice in this field.
