Tomas has a thriving practice across chambers’ core areas of work. He appears in Court almost every day across the country, obtaining excellent results for both Claimants and Defendants, and has developed a strong paperwork practice comprising both advisory and drafting work.

Following completion of a pupillage focused primarily on clinical and professional negligence, Tomas’ practice has rapidly expanded into other areas of Chambers’ expertise, including personal injury, credit hire, property damage, employment, and insurance law.

Tomas’ practice is centred on not only providing excellent work, but also on building strong relationships with instructing solicitors and lay clients. Having been self-employed since his teenage years, he understands the importance of fast turnaround times, clear and responsive communication, and consistently going above and beyond what is required. Even in his early practice, Tomas has been specifically requested by solicitors.

Before coming to the Bar, Tomas achieved a First-Class degree in Law, followed by an “Outstanding” grade on the Bar Practice Course. He regularly represented his institutions in major mooting competitions and came third out of more than 4,100 students in the annual British Inter-University Commercial Awareness Competition, the final of which involved pitching business strategy to partners of leading London law firms. He also received a Major Scholarship and Duke of Edinburgh Award from the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.

Above all, Tomas is friendly, approachable and easy to work with.

Clinical Negligence

Tomas has a keen interest in clinical negligence and continues to develop his practice in this area. During pupillage, he gained experience across a wide variety of clinical negligence matters, including delayed diagnosis claims, serious injury cases and fatal claims.

He accepts instructions across the full spectrum of clinical negligence work, including advisory work and drafting pleadings for both Claimants and Defendants.

Before commencing pupillage, Tomas worked pro bono for a law clinic assisting a nurse in proceedings before the Nursing and Midwifery Council. He is also a qualified FREC 3 first responder and previously worked on ambulances attending urgent call-outs.

Credit Hire

Tomas regularly represents both Claimants and Defendants in credit hire matters across the fast track and small claims track.

He has a strong working knowledge of credit hire case law and the practical issues that arise in these claims, allowing him to take a focused and tactical approach to achieving the best possible outcome for his clients.

Employment

Tomas is interested in developing his employment practice and accepts instructions on behalf of both Claimants and Respondents.

He is keen to build on his existing advocacy and advisory experience and welcomes instructions in employment-related disputes, including preliminary hearings, final hearings, advisory work and drafting.

Insurance

During pupillage, Tomas completed in-depth advisory work on a policy coverage dispute. He is keen to develop his practice in this area and can accept a wide range of insurance-related instructions including advisory work, drafting and court hearings.

Personal Injury

Tomas’ personal injury practice has developed rapidly since joining Farrar’s. He undertakes a broad spectrum of court work, appearing in court almost every day, and has a growing paperwork practice. In higher value claims, Tomas has provided written advice and drafted pleadings in matters including:

  • employers’ liability claims across a wide variety of industries;
  • claims arising from assault;
  • highways claims;
  • road traffic accidents;
  • occupier’s liability claims;
  • the quantification of general damages and special damages.

Tomas is comfortable advising on liability, causation, quantum, evidential issues and litigation strategy. He accepts instructions for both Claimants and Defendants.
