Following our team’s participation in the Cardiff Half Marathon last month, we are delighted to announce that we have won the ‘Top Fundraisers’ award for raising £3,681 for Mind Cymru. Thank you to all who donated and helped us to reach our target. The money raised will go far in supporting Mind with the help and guidance it offers for those dealing with mental health issues, in particular the support the charity provides for young people aged 11-18.
Not only did we raise the most money, but one of our team, Hannah Saxena, has been awarded the accolade ‘Most Inspiring Runner’.
Having not run before, Hannah started the ‘couch to 5k’ plan in March this year. An ongoing ankle injury limited her training, but she completed the plan and went on to amass a super impressive total of 250KM in training from June to September. On the day of the marathon itself, Hannah completed the course in 1hr 59mins, breaking the 2hr barrier in her very first attempt.
If you have been contemplating a new challenge to support your own mental health, we hope you will be inspired by the triumphs of our team. Maybe you will choose to take the plunge and join the Farrar’s Run Club when it embarks upon another marathon in 2024.
