The Nottingham Inquiry, chaired by Her Honour Deborah Taylor, is a statutory public inquiry seeking to build a clear understanding of the events, act and omissions that led to the attacks that took place in Nottingham 13 June 2023. On that day, Valdo Calocane killed three people in Nottingham city centre. He then went on to drive into, and seriously injure, three pedestrians.

In November 2023, Valdo Calocane pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility in relation to each of the three killings. He also pleaded guilty to attempted murder for the three further attacks. He was sentenced on 25 January 2024.

Richard Ive, instructed by the Government Legal Department, acts for His Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) in the Nottingham Inquiry.  The Chief Inspector of HMCPSI, Mr Anthony Rogers, gave oral evidence to the Nottingham Inquiry on Wednesday 6 May 2026 regarding the Crown Prosecution Service’s handling of the case.

The hearings, which commenced on Monday 23 February 2026, are expected to continue till early June 2026.
