Head of Chambers, Patrick Harrington QC led the defence for John Garner following the brutal murder of his partner, Teresa Garner who was killed during a vicious attack using a hammer.

John Garner had admitted killing Teresa during the trial but had denied her murder. During the trial it was found that Mr Garner had been aware that Teresa was in contact with a previous partner with whom they shared a daughter, and that this was a likely trigger for the murder.

The eight day trial took place at Mold Crown Court and Mr Garner was sentenced to serve a minimum of 22 years in prison on 21 May.
