Prior to being called to the Bar, Michael enjoyed a successful commercial career. With particular skill and experience in the fields of sales and marketing, he progressed from junior sales roles to senior management and Board positions, with responsibilities including negotiating and managing contractual relationships on many high-profile consumer promotions involving mobile networks including o2, EE and 3.
Michael’s operational experience included an elected role on the Executive Committee of a UK Trade Body where he supported the response of the retail industry to a Law Commission consultation on prepayments made by consumers. He also gained inspiration for his future career by working alongside Counsel in pursuit of remedy to contractual breaches by clients, including a successful application for a Freezing Injunction and consequent award of damages.
For the final 7 years of Michael’s commercial career he read law and undertook the BPTC while simultaneously fulfilling a senior board role in a stock market listed technology company, and managing his own consultancy business.
Michael is married with three sons, and lives in Sevenoaks, Kent.
In his spare time he enjoys drinking good wine with his wife and eldest son, and trying – largely unsuccessfully – to maintain parity with his 10 year old’s science knowledge, and his 9 year old’s football skills.
